The goal of living a simplified, uncluttered life is something many people aspire to. Unfortunately, to declutter your home is often easier said than done. Don’t lose hope, though; with these strategies you’ll be well on your way:
1. The Minimalists Packing Party
Of course, no one wants to take a whole year to organize their stuff. That’s why minimalists Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nocodemus created a game called the Packing Party for people who want fast results. The idea is that you put all of your possessions in a box and only take out an item as you need it. This will help you decide which things you really need, and which things need to go.
2. Four Box Method
Place each item in the room into one of four categories: trash, give away, keep and relocate. This technique may take some time, but there’s not a single item that should be passed over. This is also a great strategy when it comes to moving seniors.
3. Konmari
With this strategy, the goal is to identify things you want to keep rather than things you want to throw out. Employing this technique effectively will teach you to be content with less.
4. Project 333
Courtney Carver created this project to challenge people to wear only 33 articles of clothing for three months. If that number seems too little, you can adjust the rules and pick a higher number. The important thing is you start to live with less.
